Do you require at least one sex scene in the story? If so, how graphic does it have to be?

Is this open call for Love & Fables submissions extended to folkloric characters such as those found in fairy tales?

Can religion in general be considered fables/legends/myths or would that be too controversial?

I'm curious about the above issues as well. Also, are queer hetero couples (or those that blur the 'hetero' lines) acceptable?

Menage and polyamory?

Any tips for writers (for instance, anything you want to include but don't usually see much of, or conversely anything we should avoid because you see too much of it)?

Gehayi: There is no requirement for any sex scene...and we are open to anything from fade to black to graphic scenes.

BerryBrac: Yes indeed, folkloric characters are welcome; it is not necessary to even have a specific legend/myth/fairytale et cetera. We're not merely looking for 'retellings'...you're more than welcome to pick and choose elements to present your own fable.

Anonymous: It depends on how it is handled I would imagine that could render it on the controversial side. Many myths and legends were once part of a religion... I'd have no problem considering your submission.

Anonymous: Well...I'd say that I'd be most intrigued to see more fabricated fables than retellings, because I have a sneaking suspicion that most are giong to be the latter. And not that I'm going to be unhappy with them...just that I'll be keeping an eye out for some fresh and original fables (i.e. using the elements and structures of the fable to come up with something all of your own.)

Thanks!

I think I know what I'm going to do now, but I am still curious about how you view heterosexual queerness (or at least that which isn't clearly LGB).

Is this the place to submit gender-complex creatures or gender-morphism (i.e, Trouble on Triton)?

What about subverting gender rolls without actually subverting sex (i.e, lady knights rescuing beautiful princess)? Too mainstream?

beautiful princes, rather, not princess

Anonymous: I'm sure I replied to this...but it doesn't seem to be up here. The answer is really simple...we're a LGBT market and we require LGBT content in all subs where the focus is clearly and primary on LGBT character/s.

I realise I'm showing my ignorance here, but how does one embed a story in an email? Is it as simple as copy-and-pasting a text file (or even just a Word file?

Working with the fable theme, I keep falling into a sort of bare-bones "Storytime" voice. And I didn't realize it until recently, but when you're writing like that 3,000 words is actually a lot. Poking around Google, I can't find a rendition of The Emperor's New Clothes that runs more than 2,000.

Will shorter tales be considered?

this is a question for "queer light" but i can't find a blog entry for that...?

i was wondering if intersexed/genderfucked characters (as opposed to trans) ones were considered queer by your definition.

thanks!

Mina: Yes, it is as simple as pasting into the body of the email.

Anonymous: I'll happily look at your shorter piece; one always has to be flexible to some degree...a great story shouldn't have to stretch itself out of shape to meet a wordcount requirement.

Anonymous: I feel that your question is a little broad considering that intersex comes in highly varied shades. Feel free to contact me directly via email with a more defined example of your intersex character and the kind of relationship in question.
